What's Going On

What I'm Reading

Yesterday I finished reading 7 by Jen Hatmaker. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I've just recently found Jen's blog (you probably saw her most recent viral post Worst End of School Year Mom ever) and I am loving everything I read of hers.

7 is about an experiment Jen did where she focused on getting rid of excess in a different area each month for 7 months. I am so inspired to purge and simplify and clean out closets after reading her book. More than that, I feel renewed in my passion for fighting injustice and oppression. She has a beautiful story and I think you should all follow her blog and then join me in reading some more of her 9 books.

What I'm Watching

Abby got me started on a British show on Netflix, Call the Midwife. I've only seen one episode so far, but it was very intriguing and I am excited to keep watching. It's about London's east end in the 1950's and follows a group of nuns and midwives as they work in the poorest part of London.
I've also been watching some of Arrested Development season 4. I was watching it faithfully right when it came out, but I've kind of lost interest and am only joining Kory for the occasional episode now.

What I'm Listening To

Thanks to Spotify, I've really been loving Mat Kearney lately. I've been listening to his Young Love album from 2011 on repeat for a couple weeks now.

What I'm Excited About

This coming weekend! We're running in the Run for Ohm 5k early Saturday morning, then going to Eugene to catch the REI garage sale after we finish the race. We'll come back home and get cleaned up so we can get to a wedding about an hour away that afternoon and then come back to Roseburg after the wedding to make it to a graduation party for one of our youth group students. Sunday morning we'll go to church, grab some lunch, and then head to Roseburg High School's graduation. We'll stop by one more graduation party for a student from church and then hopefully have a tiny bit of down time before the next work week starts.

What I'm Inspired By
I posted this quote on Facebook recently and I can't get it off my mind: "How we spend our days is, of course, how we spend our lives." -Annie Dillard.  It's been a great reminder to me that the day in and day out routine is important because those days of my life are shaping the person I'm becoming.

What I'm Thinking About

Most of you know about our house situation, but in case you don't, here is the short version: We bought our home just over one year ago. Within the past two months, we've discovered that the home has major foundation issues which were not disclosed or discovered in the inspection and buying process. Fixing the home's foundation will cost $55,000. As you can imagine, this has been pretty devastating to us, as we thought we had bought the home we would live in for the next 10-15 years at least. We're (obviously) unable to pay for that kind of repair, so we're looking at other options for this situation.

My thoughts have been pretty consumed with this for a while now. I honestly think I've prayed about it more than I've prayed about anything else in my life before...which already shows that there are good things coming out of this situation, but it's still incredibly discouraging. In the moments when I'm not busy or focusing on something else, my mind drifts to the house. I don't even think it's really worry most of the time, I'm just thinking through solutions or having ideas/plans to discuss with Kory. While I'm obviously looking forward to the time when we have this problem solved, I am most looking forward to thinking about something else...anything else really!

What I'm Happy About

1.) After a 10 year break from soccer, I just joined the Adult Soccer League for the summer.
2.) Warm weather has finally arrived in Oregon! My garden is loving this sunshine and finally starting to show some signs of growth/future produce.
3.) I'm going to be an Aunt to twins in November/December!!
